_1. Good morning. *सुप्पभातं ।*_

_2. It is good of you to have come here: *सुन्दरं तथा कतं इध आगच्छन्तेन।*_ 

_3. I hoped that you would come as I was anxious to meet you; *अहं तया समागन्तुं इच्छन्तो तब आगमनं पच्यासिंसन्तु वसिं ।*_

_4. Why have you been away so long ? *कस्मा त्वं चिराय इध नागतो सि?*_

_5. I could not go anywhere for about a month as I was ill; *गेलञ्ञेन आभिभूतोऽहं एक मासमत्तं कत्थचि पि गन्तुं नाखक्खिं ।*_

_6. Was your harvest fruitful ? *तव सस्सं निप्फन्नं वा नो वा?*_ 

_7. My crop was destroyed by an excess of water, only a small quantity left unharmed; *अधिक जलेन मम सस्सं विनस्सि; थोकं एवं अविसिट्ठं अहोसि*_

_8. What about your own crop ? *का भवती सस्से पवत्ति?*_

_9. At first, some cattle broke the fence and ate the young plants, and then the remainder died of drought; *पठमं गावो वत्तिं भिन्दित्वा तरुणासस्सं खादिंसु अथावसिट्ठं अनोदकेन मिलायि*_

_10. If it is so how will you feed your family  *यज्जेवं, कथं त्वं अत्तनां कुटुम्बं पोसेतुं सक्कोसि ?*_ 

_11. I will earn my living by selling pot-herbs brinjals, pumpkins, etc, *अहं साकपण्णाणि च भण्डाकीकुमाण्डादीनि च विक्किणित्वा जीविकं कप्पेस्सामि ।*_

_12. Are there many orange trees in your garden; *सन्ति वब उय्याने बहु जम्बीररुक्खा ?*_

_13. There are twenty trees in my garden; *वीसति रुक्खा मम उय्याने रोपिता होन्ति।*_

_14. How many fruits do you gather from those trees in one crop? *एकस्मिं वारे तेहि कित्तकानि फलानि ओचिनासि ?*_ 

_15. I get about two thousand fruits in one crop *एकस्मिं फलवारे द्विसहस्समत्तानि फलानि लभामि।*_ 

_16. When do you wish to plough your field; *कदा तव खत्तं कसितुं इच्छसि*_

_17. I will plough it when I get oxen and plough : *यदा गोणे च नाङ्गलानि च लभिस्सामि तदाहं कसिस्सामि*_ 

_18. How many mowers do you need in reaping? *लायने कित्तका लायका इच्छितब्बा ?*_

_19. Ten reapers with ten scythes will be able to reap my harvest; *दस लायका दसहि दात्तेहि मम सस्सं लायितुं सक्खिस्सन्ति।*_

_20. Having heaped them on the threshing floor, how many oxen do you need for threshing ? *खले रासिकत्वा कतीहि गोणेहि महापिस्ससि?*_ 

_21. Having got them threshed by eight oxen and having removed straw and chaff, I will bring home the grain after getting it dried: *अट्टाहि गोणेहि मद्दापेत्वा पलालं उध्दरिता भुसं पप्फोटेत्वा सुक्खापेत्वा च धाञ्ञं गेहं आनेस्सामि ।*_
